For me it was getting to know the other members of the band. I was particularly drawn to Stone. His sense of humor, perspective despite success, and quick wit added an element to the film that I did not expect. This is a band that has somehow managed to grow incredibly famous and recognizable while still masking much of their individual personalities from the public. This is an attribute that I have always appreciated because it lets the music stand on its own without the personal hype surrounding it as much of today's popular music does. I'm a guy who doesn't like books with a picture of the author on the back.

I had to turn it off when Ed gets the demo tape he sends the guys back. I couldn't watch anymore after that...

@CometothePorch exactly buddy, I didn't realize Jeff Ament was so laid back and quite funny, would be a good guy to hang with.

@CometothePorch how about the Roskilde part, damn! I was so afraid they would never play again. And I had tix to the 1st 3 us dates after.
I agree. The band member interviews were interesting. It was nice to see Chris Cornell get as much screen time as he did because he is a part of the band's history as well. There is definitely some real friendship there; it's more than professional.

@CometothePorch Two scenes I can't separate in preference: Ed and Stone working out Daughter; Ed and Kurt backstage at the MTV Awards.

ReplyDelete@CometothePorch I was more or less drawn into the film from the very start. I kinda abandoned PJ somewhere along the way. This docu' reminded me just how awesome they are. It was like a religious intervention (is that totally over the top?)Mt fav parts were the live performances.
@CometothePorch A few 1) going through Stone's house looking for mementos; 2) friendship between Ed and Jeff; 3) working on Daughter in bus.
ReplyDelete@CometothePorch from begin-end!but when they are talking about andy's its very2 emotional n also eddies talk about his father n exactly when kurt cobain meet eddie in the backstage MTV Awards!
ReplyDeleteIt's very sweet when Chris Cornell talks about his friendship with Andy Wood, and hi almoust cried!!
ReplyDeleteI liked every part of it! Especially how the band came together and the progression of Eddie into an awesome lead singer! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLoved every second! So much so I bought doc, book, everything on iTunes, and reinstated my 10 club membership! Lol
ReplyDeleteThe crowd singing "Better Man" at MSG and the outtakes! But it was hard picking a favorite! It was ALL soooo good!
ReplyDeleteStone that finds a grammy in his basement...
ReplyDelete"Oh look, There's a grammy!" Epic !!!
Loved every minute of it!! Goosebumps from beginning to end! I do especially love the part when ED is screaming into the security guards ear!
ReplyDeleteWhen everyone is talking about the demo tape Eddie sent back. Especially what Cornell said "I heard a guy." It was cool hearing their perspectives.
ReplyDeleteThe footage of edddie vedder saying "none of us would be here tonight, if it wasn't for, kurt cobain" I nearly cried at that part
ReplyDeleteMy fav part is when they talk about Mad Season...when I first saw Layne, I started to cry and so on...
