A Book of Thanks from the Fans

Have you submitted your Pearl Jam story yet?  Our friends at "To Pearl Jam With Love" are compiling submissions so they can publish a book written by the collective #PJFAM and submit it to the band.  What a great way to show our appreciation!

If you're in the New York Area, check out the fundraiser to help get the book off the ground.  It's Sunday, June 9th at Even Flow Bar & Grill.  Click here for more details.

Bring Pearl Jam to Israel

Check out this video of some very highly motivated kids performing Pearl Jam's Alive.  They're building a social media campaign to get the band to play in their country.  After seeing how passionate they are about this music, I have every confidence that they will continue on their campaign to get Pearl Jam's attention.  Although I rarely advocate for PJ to play anywhere other than my living room, this video is nothing short of inspirational.  Enjoy.

Pearl Jam - Soldier of Love

"Baby Lay down your arms"

From Voters Choice:

Lyrics from the Beatles version:

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And surrender to me (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms for loving me
Baby, that's the way it's gotta be (Ooh)

There ain't no reason for you to declare
War on the one that loves you so
So forget the other boys because my love is real
Come off your battlefield

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me tenderly (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms to hold me tight
Baby, I don't wanna fight no more (Ooh)

The weapons you're using are hurtin' me bad
But someday you're gonna see
That my love for you baby, is the truest you've ever had
A Soldier of Love, that's hard to be

Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And love me peacefully (Sha la, la)
Lay down your arms (Soldier of love)
And surrender to me (Sha la, la) yeah (Sha la la)
Use your arms to squeeze and please cos I'm the one that loves you so
(Yeah, soldier of love) Baby, lay down your arms
(Yeah, soldier of love) Baby, lay down your arms
(Yeah, yeah) (fade out)

Pearl Jam and their Manager Kelly Curtis have given us another reason to be proud!  Global Citizen Tickets Initiative's goal is to fight extreme poverty worldwide by using music as an incentive to take action.  Touring bands are offering up tickets to their shows for people who have earned points through the Global Citizen website.  Points are earned in the following ways:

•  Watching a short video on an issue related to extreme poverty (1 point)
•  Sharing a video about extreme poverty on social networks (1 point)
•  Adding your voice to a petition (3 points)
•  Buying Fairtrade products (3 points)
•  Calling your representatives (10 points), or emailing your representatives (5 points)

There are some big name musicians who are backing the organization including Pearl Jam, BeyoncĂ©, Bruce Springsteen, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Tim McGraw, Usher, Ke$ha, Foo Fighters, Neil Young, Black Sabbath, Gotye, Dixie Chicks, One Direction and Tony Bennett. Click here for a full list of current supporters.

Sign-up only takes a minute and you can begin taking action right away.

Here's a section of the Billboard article that includes quotes from Kelly Curtis and Stone Gossard:
"When we went into this thing, we always knew it was bigger than Pearl Jam, it couldn't be just another thing Pearl Jam was promoting, it had to be Jay-Z and Bruce Springsteen and Dixie Chicks, it had to be everybody starting this thing off," Curtis tells Billboard. "We had to get all the mechanics right, there were a lot of moving parts. But, philosophically, the ask was really easy. Most people said 'yes' right away, and some didn't say 'yes,' but I'm sure we'll get them on the second round, once we do this first wave of who's on board. And after that, there's no stopping it."

In a statement, Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard praises Curtis for "spearheading this thoughtful strategy. It reflects the DNA of our band and business, and expands it to respond to some of the greatest inequities and challenges facing humanity."
