Adam Levine does an Eddie Vedder impression on Jimmy Falon

I never thought I'd have the lyrics to "Muffin Man" stuck in my head all day! Fast forward this clip to 4:30 for a laugh as Adam Levine does an impression of Eddie Vedder singing Muffin Man.  Both stars are well known Pearl Jam fans which makes it that much more fun.

Mike McCready's 1959 Guitars

Cool interview by Fretboard Journal.  McCready talks about his 1959 guitars and shows off my favorite guitar on earth, his '59 strat.  Nothing is cooler than watching him rock Yellow Ledbetter with the lights up and that guitar in his hands.  Loved getting the chance to see it up close through this video.  Enjoy!

Mike McCready Interview: Mad Season Deluxe

Ok, I'll admit it.  I actively avoid most of the side projects that the individual members of the band have.  It's not because I don't like the music those side projects produce, it's because I love Pearl Jam so much that I don't want our boys distracted by anything else.  I know, I know, creative minds needs distraction and it's a huge reason they've stayed together for so long  blah blah blah, (save your hate mail, I get it).

Watching this video though made me remember how great the Mad Season album, Above is.  When you mix personalities like Mike McCready, Layne Staley, and Baker, you're bound to get magic.  Now to throw the vocals of Mark Lanegan on top of it for bonus tracks?  The Deluxe version of the album is going to be that much greater.

The Deluxe version is available on April 2nd, 2013 and can be pre-ordered here.

Jeff Ament interview before his set at Made In America 2012

Jeff Talks about how Pearl Jam works on their albums and the political angles of the band.  He mentions Run DMC playing in the background which was a few hours before PJ's set.  I was at this show and it was an unbelievable experience.

Actor Patrick Warburton discusses Eddie Vedder

Great article from @grungereport.  At one hour and forty minutes in Patrick Warburton talks about meeting Eddie Vedder and getting to create a setlist.  I think it's cool too see famous people who get excited about the chance to meet other famous people.  He talks about Eddie the same way the rest of us crazy fans do.

Patrick Warburton:  Probably best known for being the voice of Joe Swanson (the cop) in family guy but he was also on Seinfeld and several other things you may recognize.  Check out his filmography.

Bridge School Students Interview Eddie Vedder

This will touch your heart.  What a great organization.  Anyone who would dare question the awesomeness of Eddie Vedder need only watch this.

Check out this amazing interview with Eddie Vedder and a couple of other artists who performed at Bridge School. The Bridge School is an organization focused on educating children with severe speech and physical impairments. Pearl Jam has been involved with The Bridge School for years primarily as a result of their relationship with Neil Young, or "Uncle Neil" as they call him. Neil Young has been organizing concerts to benefit the organization for years and Pearl Jam, or Eddie solo, have participated many times.

In this interview, Eddie talks about how the band got its name and about his thoughts on touring. Click Here to donate to The Bridge School.

Stone Gossard Interview Notes - 4/30/12

On the last day of public radio month Stone Gossard does a live interview on Radio Louisville 91.9 WFPK.  The interview started out with Gossard discussing his "other" band BRAD and its newly released record, United We Stand.  The host brought up the discussion of people calling it a "side project" which Gossard dismissed saying that was just semantics.  It's a real band that operates independently from Pearl Jam.

When asked if BRAD and PJ age differently Stone compared the longevity of each band to being in a marriage.  He said that long term bands have a certain wisdom and gratitude that develops over time.  He joked that he's a polygamist because he is in two long term bands.  He described the longevity as a "triumph of will" and said continued by saying that tension and conflict are just part of it.

Double Bill with Pearl Jam and Soundgarden?  Stone said he'd feel bad for Matt Cameron but also said, "sounds fun, I think we should do it."

BRAD will re-release prior records potentially with a few new tracks.  Stone said not to expect much new stuff but that they may find something as they continue digging through the old files.

Stone said that he spent less time on the nostalgia marketing than Jeff and Eddie but still believes Pearl Jam's best records are ahead of them.

He announced that PJ will have another box set but it's release is not set yet. Jeff and Ed spend a lot of time doing the packaging to make it worth it for super fans what to see and feel the bands history.

Bay Leaf, Stones personal solo record has turned 10 years old. He says he's proud of that record and expects to release another solo album in the next couple of years. It's fun to be a fascist in the studio when doing a solo album.

How's Eddie doing? Hurt his back when moving a bench in his back yard.  His arm was going to sleep.  Going through physical therapy now.

Public radio - "Something that's worth paying for."  He praised KEXP for being like a band by collaborating with and trusting each other.

Great to hear Stone this morning!

Pearl Jam & UPS - Sustainable Touring

Guitarist Stone Gossard talks about how Pearl Jam partnered with UPS to reduce their carbon emissions for PJ20 in Alpine Valley.

The UPS description on the video:

"From stage diving to sustainability.

Since their debut 20 years ago, Pearl Jam has evolved from an alternative rock band to a full-scale business. They recently partnered with UPS to devise a transportation strategy and offset the impact of their PJ20 Anniversary Destination Weekend.

UPS employed a simple tactic: they used multiple forms of transportation, including rail, instead of semis to move the band's equipment. This helped Pearl Jam reduce a large portion of their carbon output during the PJ20 Destination Weekend. UPS offset the remaining 19 tonnes of carbon by investing in carbon reclamation efforts. The band was so impressed with the results, they're now talking and strategizing with UPS for further solutions to minimize and offset the impact of their tours on the planet."
